ABSTRACT

The study aimed to identify the academic problems facing university students during the Corona pandemic from their viewpoints and its relationship to some variables, as the study sample comprised (4000) male and female students from Jordanian universities. The study concluded that the students' academic problems during the Corona pandemic were average in all fields of study. The study showed the absence of statistically significant differences in the students' academic problems attributed to gender (male, female), specialization (scientific, humanitarian) and academic level (diploma, bachelor) variables.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to evaluating the students’ attitude toward the use of Moodle mobile application at Zarqa University (ZU) in the covid-19 pandemic. The study used the descriptive analytical approach, and the study sample consisted of (368) students who were randomly selected of undergraduate studies in ZU, and to achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers designed a questionnaire as a tool for collecting data from the members of the study sample. Among undergraduate students in Jordanian universities, There are statistically significant differences in the use of the mobile phone “Moodle mobile application” in distance learning for bachelor’s degree students at private Jordanian universities at the significance level (=0.05). This research focuses on the elements that influence students’ adoption of the Moodle mobile application and its ability to be used effectively. As a conceptual research framework of Moodle mobile application adoption, the technology acceptance model (TAM) is used. This paper aims to evaluate factors affecting the student’s attitude toward the use of the Moodle mobile application at Zarqa University (ZU) in Jordan. The following recommendations were made based on the findings of the study, which showed that students are interested in and satisfied with the Moodle mobile application: Encouraging faculty members and undergraduate students in Jordanian universities to use Moodle mobile application in teaching, design of educational technology lessons for undergraduate and postgraduate subjects to used it in teaching through the Moodle mobile application in order to achieve the goals of distance teaching. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

SESSION TITLE: Critical Cardiovascular Disorders SESSION TYPE: Rapid Fire Case Reports PRESENTED ON: 10/18/2022 10:15 am - 11:10 am INTRODUCTION: Hemorrhagic shock is a life-threatening condition in which severe blood loss results in cellular and tissue hypoxia. The bleeding can be external or internal. Internal bleeding to one of the body cavities;retroperitoneum, as well as the proximal thigh. Diagnosing nontraumatic bleeding can be challenging and needs a high index of clinical suspension. Here we present a case of hemorrhagic shock secondary to spontaneous lumbar artery rupture causing retroperitoneal bleeding. CASE PRESENTATION: Here we present a 73-year-old male patient with a history of renal cell carcinoma metastatic to the lungs and stage 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD), who presented with confusion, one day after he tested positive for covid after he had a fever and flu-like symptoms for about 4 days. On admission, he was hemodynamically stable and saturating well on ambient air. Head computed tomography (CT) scan and Chest radiograph were negative for acute insults. On the day after admission, his mental status deteriorated, developed acute hypoxic respiratory failure requiring 4 liters of oxygen per minute, tachycardia, and skin mottling over his hands and feet. Labs revealed elevated serum D-dimer. He was started on full-dose anticoagulation with Enoxaparin, and a CT angiogram of the chest was done and revealed new multifocal infiltrates consistent with COVID pneumonia but no pulmonary embolism. He was treated started on IV antibiotics, in addition to Remdesivir and hydrocortisone were started. On the fourth day of admission, he collapsed suddenly and became profoundly hypotensive. Repeat labs revealed a significant hemoglobin drop from 12 to 7.5 g/dl, and creatinine went up to 2.8 mg/dl. An emergent CT of the abdomen revealed an acute retroperitoneal hematoma with active extravasation. After adequate resuscitation and vasopressor support, an aortic angiogram was done showing lumbar artery bleeding requiring embolization, which was done, however, he remained hypotensive and went into cardiac arrest with failed resuscitation. DISCUSSION: Spontaneous lumbar artery rupture is a rare entity (1). Most of the reported cases had chronic kidney disease and were receiving anticoagulation (2,3). It can result in retroperitoneal hematoma, which can present with abdominal pain, hemodynamic instability, and nonspecific symptoms. Abdomen pelvis CT scan with contrast is needed to evaluate for the presence of retroperitoneal hematoma. In addition to resuscitation with fluid and blood products, urgent angiography is needed to confirm the bleeding site and to control it (e.g. embolization). CONCLUSIONS: Spontaneous Lumbar artery rupture should be considered in patients with chronic kidney disease and/or on anticoagulation who are in shock without obvious cause. It's a life threatening condition that needs immediate recognition. Reference #1: Kim JY, Lee SA, Hwang JJ, Park JB, Park SW, Kim YH, et al. ABSTRACT

The current study aims at investigating the influence of Covid -19 crisis on teaching English as a second language. As it is universally admitted, every aspect was affected by this unexpected crisis, and teaching was one of the most influenced fields where teachers found themselves turned into distant teaching or the so called on-line teaching. This phenomenon has been referred to as "distance learning, or education, e-learning, and online learning". Both teachers and students found themselves engaged in virtual classroom by joining an on-line distant virtual teaching environment by joining audio and video conferences such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom video conference systems. Some countries adopt a dual technique mixing the traditional face-to-face method with the on-line method. This study aims at investigating how the shift to the new methods influenced teaching process. Probably, this new reality has its advantages and disadvantages if compared with the traditional ways of teaching. The study intends to verify that the on-line teaching is of a great stagnant importance in consideration to the quick mechanized retort. This helps, the study argues, in developing students' skills;the propinquity of teaching environment and the timing system allow the student to concentrate and focus on their answers in light of time limits. The study concludes that on -line teaching is of great benefits by offering a chance for effective teaching and therefore results in a clear advance in the students' scholarly accomplishments. © 2020 Asian EFL Journal Press.
